(A) Katy Perry is an album recorded by Katy Perry. The album was meant to be Perry's solo debut (after working as a vocalist on The Matrix's canceled album). The album was recorded by Perry, during her recording sessions with Glen Ballard. When asked about the album by Blender Magazine, Perry told them that the album would be rock-oriented in comparison to her work with The Matrix[1].

Perry filmed a music video for the songs "Diamonds"[2], "Long Shot"[3], and "Box"[4]. In 2005, the song "Simple" was placed on The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants soundtrack. "Simple" also received a music video, which featured Perry running around the streets of the Shinjuku region of Tokyo, Japan[5].

The album was set for release in 2005, but was later canceled by the record label because they could not figure out how to promote Perry[6]. Her first mainstream album, One of the Boys, was ultimately released three years later.

"Hook Up", which was later renamed "I Do Not Hook Up", and along with the song "Long Shot", were given to Kelly Clarkson for her 2009 album, All I Ever Wanted.

Wish You the Worst was recorded by American Idol Semi-finalist Kady Malloy and released on the independent music site, Amiestreet.com
