Altay, Xinjiang

Altay or Aletai (Chinese: 阿勒泰; pinyin: Ālètài) is a city in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, in the People's Republic of China. It is the administrative centre of Altay Prefecture, and has 142,000 inhabitants.
