Battle of Lepanto

Three battles have been known as the Battle of Lepanto:

• Battle of Lepanto (1499), an Ottoman victory during the Ottoman-Venetian Wars
• Battle of Lepanto (1500), an Ottoman victory during the Ottoman-Venetian Wars
• Battle of Lepanto (1571), a Holy League victory over the Ottoman fleet, by far the most famous of the three

An earlier battle near modern Lepanto was called the Battle of Naupactus (429 BC).

Four paintings entitled the Battle of Lepanto are all of the 1571 Battle:
