  • An Arabic word (عيد ‘īd "festival"), and more specifically any of the following:
    • Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘īdu l-fiṭr "Festival of the Fast Breaking"), which marks the end of the month of Ramadan
    • Eid al-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى ‘īdu l-’aḍḥā "Festival of the Sacrifice") or Eid-e Qurban (Persian: عید قربان eyde qorbân) which is celebrated to commemorate Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son for God
    • Eid-e Nowruz (Persian: عید نوروز eyde nowruz), which marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the Iranian year as well as the Baha'i year
    • Eid Mubarak (Persian: عید مبارک eyd mobârak, from the Arabic عید مبارﻙ ‘īd mubārak, lit. "blessed festival"), a greeting used by Muslims during Eid ul-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
    • Eid Milad an Nabi ("Festival of the birth of the Prophet"), one of several names for Mawlid
    • Eid al-Ghadeer, the day of Eid for Shia Muslims that marks the nomination of Ali, prophet's cousin, as the successor of the prophet
    • Eid al-Mubahila, the day of Eid for Shia Muslims that marks the success of Muslims in a peaceful debate with Christians of the time
    • Eid E Shuja, the day of Eid for Shia Muslims and marks the end of the mourning period after the events of Karbala
    • Eid prayer (salatu'l-`idayn), prescribed in the first year after the hijra
