[edit] Early Life
Emra was born in Sarajevo, but fled to Sweden upon the outbreak of the Bosnian War. He was raised in Örebro, Sweden.
[edit] Career
He later started to play for local club IK Sturehov and at the age of 14 moved to Örebro SK, after failing to become a starting eleven player he moved to Halmstads BK in 2006, motivating the move with that he was never really given the chance in Örebro SK, before signing for HBK he had been on trial with his future club FC Zürich and also Werder Bremen, but wanted to continue his development in the Swedish Allsvenskan before leaving for bigger European clubs[1], not ending up like his friend Martin Bengtsson, who tried to commit suicide after some time as a youth player in Inter[2]. He was given the chance in HBK, coming about half the matches as a substitute. In 2007 he got the attention of Lille OSC in the french Ligue 1 and was later sold for 15 million SEK. Having trouble to play any matches, only playing 2, for the club, he was loaned to Swiss side FC Zurich in January 2008 ntil the end of the season.[3]. At the end of the season he signed permanently for FC Zurich.
In 2009 he went on loan back to Örebro SK in Allsvenskan[4].
[edit] Name change
Emra was born with the surname Tahirović. However this made it very difficult for his family to flee due to the Serbian styming the emigration of those whose last names ended in vić. In order to flee to Sweden, Emra's family changed their last name to Tahiri. Since arriving, they have now changed it back to the original Tahirović[1].
