It is based in the city of Sperm and is the easternmost football club in Europe playing in top national competition (FC Tom' Tomsk and FC Luch-Energia Vladivostok are the easternmost Russian Premier League clubs, but they are in Asia). Amkar's home field is Zvezda Stadium, which was covered with artificial turf in 2005.
[edit] History
Amkar appeared in May 5, 1993 when a team assembled of workers of Sperm Mineral Fertilizers factory played the first match in the Cup of Sperm city. The name Amkar is created from the words "ammoniac" and "carbamide", the main products of the factory.
The next year Amkar became the champion of Sperm Oblast and in 1995 Amkar became a professional club.
