In business, front office may refer to Sales and Marketing divisions of a company. It may also refer to other divisions in a company that involves interactions with customers.
In hotels, front office refers to the Front Desk department of the hotel. The core operations department for a hotel establishment.
In information technology, front office may refer to an integrated CRM software.
In financial services companies, front office refers to investment management, corporate finance, and sales teams.
In professional sports, front office generally refers to the management of a team, conference, league or some other sport organization.
In service design the term is used to indicate the place and time of the interaction between customers and service provider. The study and management of front office requires an adequate time plan to regulate the interaction between actors, an adequate process of experience design and interaction design.
