The World War II Memorial consists of one of the two existing German V-1 "Buzz Bombs" captured at the end of the war. The other V-1 is in the Smithsonian. The memorial is on the southwest corner of the courthouse square along U.S. 231. It was obtained through the efforts of a local, who was serving in Europe and charged with disposing of the weapon. He was able to arrange the donation to his home town of Greencastle through the War Department. [5]
