Guild (ecology)

Guilds are groups of species that exploit the same resources in the same way[1], therefore sharing a similar ecological niche.
Some example guilds: forbs, geophytes, graminoids, shrubs, trees, vines, and arthropods.
They are classified according to how they acquire their nutrients, their state of mobility, and their mode of feeding.
The number of guilds occupying an ecosystem is termed its disparity.
