Pe (П, п, italics: П, п) (formerly referred to by the mnemonic name pokoy) is a letter of the Cyrillic alphabet, representing the consonant /p/ unless followed by a palatalizing vowel when it represents /pʲ/. It arose directly from the Greek letter Pi (Π, π). The shape of capital and small printed Pe can be described as a rectangle with the bottom line missing, not to be confused with Cyrillic El (Л, л), which has a curved left. A capital Pe looks exactly like the Greek capital Pi, and small Pe looks like a smaller version of the same. Small cursive/italics Cyrillic п (П - Cyrillic Pe) in the majority of fonts or hand-written looks like Latin n (N).
