[edit] Purpose of this template

This template is for the creation of an alphabetical article index for a subject.

[edit] Instructions

Important: Do not transclude this template directly into a page. That is, do not place {{Alpha index}} on a page! Use substitution instead (see below for how).

To create an alphabetical article index for a subject, type "List of (subject) articles" (type the name of the subject in place of the word "subject") in Wikipedia's search box. If the page does not yet exist, Wikipedia will give you the option of creating it. Click on the red "Create this page", and add the following wikicode to the edit window that appears (but type the name of the subject in place of the word "subject"):

{{subst:Alpha index|subject}}

Then fill in the lead paragraph with a definition of the subject.

And then fill in each section with articles on the subject starting with the indicated letter of the alphabet.

If you have trouble using this template, or have questions, contact The Transhumanist   , and he will do his best to help you.

Good luck.

And have fun.  ;)
