This page documents the new combined WikiProject Food and Drink banner templates. The purpose of this new banner system is threefold:

  1. It unifies the disparate food and drink related projects under a single banner;
  2. It leaves the talk pages less cluttered, instead of two or three multiple banners, there is just a single one;
  3. It simplifies the classification and rating systems, allowing a single editor to classify the articles for three projects.

Additionally, the new system will allow project-ratings for when needed. For example, an article's subject may be of low importance to the Food and Drink project as a whole, however, it may be of high importance to the Beer or Wine projects. This feature is not activated at this time, but it can be, if needed.

Project support

The banner currently supports the following projects:

Currently class and importance will be inherited from the WP Food assessments for the article. The banner can be modified to allow separate Project specific assessments, if needed. If any one wishes to add another related project, please use the talk page.

Project customizations

Additionally, the template has been designed so that when a task force or other project is added, all links and images will be changed to reflect the focus of the task force or WikiProject.

This is true for all projects supported by this template. With projects that have their own portal pages, such as wine and beer, the portal links are also redirected as such.

Assessment tags

  • class parameter - this switch supports all article class assessments defined in the Version 1.0 Editorial Team Assessment guide. See the Food and Drink Assessment page for a full description.
  • importance parameter - this switch supports all article importance assessments defined in the Version 1.0 Editorial Team Assessment guide. See the Food and Drink Assessment page for a full description.
  • attention parameter - use this switch sparingly on those articles most in need of work.
  • auto parameter - used by a bot to classify stub article talk pages.
  • drink parameter - used to change the portal focus and portal image to the Drink portal.
  • needs-infobox parameter - used to mark those articles that are in need of an infobox to improve the article quality.
  • needs-photo parameter - used to mark those articles that are in need of a photo to improve the article quality. "A picture is worth a thousand words"
  • small parameter - used to display a smaller banner that floats to the right.
